Prom night disrupted by illegal limo journey

It’s very important to us that you have a fun but, most importantly, safe and legal journey in one of our luxury limos. To help you understand why, we’re here to keep you up-to-date on other limo operators who disobey the law.

Last month, five pupils, who were going to their prom night in Walsall, West Midlands, had their special night disrupted when the Vehicle Operating Standards Agency (VOSA) stopped their limousine.

The limo operator had her licence revoked when inspectors found it was operating illegally. She has been banned from having a licence for carrying passengers for 12 months.

West Midlands Traffic Commissioner Nick Jones found she had been “reckless” in failing to check the legal status of her stretch Dodge.

The operator only had a licence for eight passengers or less but was driving a vehicle with a large number of seats.

Mr Jones said: “She obtained commercial advantage in breaching the clear rules which were spelt out to her in unequivocal terms in November 2011.

“Legitimate limousine operators suffer from those that flout the law and thereby gain commercial advantage.”

“However, I accept that this operator is not in the category of large scale, sophisticated illegal operation that tarnishes the reputation of the limousine industry. This allows me to keep any disqualification relatively short.”

Remember that if your limo is unlicensed, passengers could be harmed.

Should the car get spot checked by VOSA – it could be removed from the road and your journey terminated.

All our limos are legal and safe! You’ll find a whole selection of fully licensed limos and prom cars for hire at Limo-Scene.

Be smart and hire a limo with a company that boasts fully registered vehicles. Check their paperwork to ensure they are allowed to carry a large number of passengers.
