Cotton candy, colourful rides and a casual, playful atmosphere: What’s not to love about a fairground? As one of the hottest wedding themes for 2016, we thought we’d help you to get that super trendy vintage fairground wedding style just right with today’s top tips…
When it comes to colours and themes for a vintage fairground wedding the main thing is to keep it bright, vibrant and eye-catching. You could take the candy cane colours of red and white as inspiration, or stick to something cute with a pastel colour scheme.
When it comes to the dress and the rest of the wedding attire it’s best not to go too overboard with colour. Keep things simple with a white dress cut with a retro edge – for example a flirty 50s tea-length style, or if you want to embrace a bit of colour opt for a subtle pastel shade in rose quartz or serenity blue. You could also add a pop of colour with your accessories, or let your maids add the colour to your party with mismatched pastel dresses.
The emphasis really is on fun with this wedding theme. You could opt to hire fairground games, such as ring toss, skittles, and a rifle range, or if you’ve got the budget a Ferris wheel or merry-go-round. You could even hire performers, such as jugglers and a close-up magician!
Don’t forget that fun food touches can also add to the entertainment of the day. An ice cream trike, candy floss stand and popcorn stall are all great ideas, as is your very own homemade lemonade and cocktail bar. And when it comes to your wedding breakfast opt for something informal, such as a barbecue or hog roast – much like you’d expect to enjoy at the funfair.
When it comes to your wedding favours why not hand out bags of penny sweets, instant cameras or even tokens to play on the amusements? If you’re feeling extra generous could even offer admission to your very own candy bar.
With a vintage wedding theme there’s only one style of car suited to the job – and that’s a chic and stylish vintage model.
