What’s in store for weddings in 2016?

Posted on 14th Dec, 2015 by Jackie Jolliffe

2015 has been a great year for wedding themes, with lots interesting and fresh takes on the popular looks of recent years. However, 2016 looks to be even more exciting with brand new trends, development of existing themes and an emphasis on fun!

Trend #1 The not-so-white wedding dress

The white wedding dress is a classic and while most brides will opt for a traditional dress, those looking to break tradition may want to consider a slightly different colour gown. Pastel shades such as blue, rose, peach and mint are definitely going to be huge when it comes to wedding attire in 2016, so keep your eye out for these chic and eye-catching designs.

Trend #2 Bold colour palettes

While pastel colours have been popular over recent years, bold colours are beginning to make a comeback. Bright, zesty yellow, deep, vibrant peach, and bold serenity blue are just some of the pantone colours for 2016.

Trend #3 Flower power

Flowers have always played a big part in weddings, but now we’re seeing more unusual uses for them. One of the biggest trends right now, flower crowns, capture the rustic, bohemian vibe, while floral print bridesmaid dresses are also set to feature for next year. Other great ways to show off your beautiful blooms include statement floral table centrepieces, hanging flower chandeliers, and huge, wild flower wedding bouquets.

Trend #4 Fairground entertainment

2015 has been a big year for themes and entertainment, with Great Gatsby playing a key role. However, in 2016 the one theme that’s sure to capture the imagination is all the fun of the fair. Bright lights, bold colours and lots of outdoor entertainment, including candy floss machines, ice cream vans and fairground rides, are set to be big in spring and summer.

Trend #4 The new rustic

Rustic styling has been big for some time now, but rather than teaming raffia and hessian with pastel shades, brides will be adapting the traditional style for a more new-age look. Gemstone tones, shimmering lights, and enchanting woodland vibes are all set to come together to create a glam and majestic rustic romance.
