When it comes to weddings there are two types of couple. Those who want a full-on lavish affair – with just about everyone they know – and those who want something a little more minimalist and intimate. This week we’re focusing on the latter as we share our top tips for the planning the perfect small wedding.
Some couples opt for a smaller wedding simply because they don’t want to spend their life-savings on one day. If this is the case for you, fewer guest numbers is certainly one way to save a huge amount. As a high percentage of your wedding costs will go on food and drink, fewer guests means less mouths to feed and more pennies saved. In addition you could also opt for a more minimalist menu – perhaps a two-course meal, afternoon tea or hog roast.
Alternatively, if money is no object – and you just want to keep the day as personal as possible – you’ll be able to treat all those on your limited guest list to a luxury menu. Why not see if you can work together with your caterer to create a menu that reflects your loves and your lives for something very special and personal?
Now that you’ve established who to invite and what sort of your budget you have to work with, it’s time to think about where you want to have the ceremony and reception. With small guest numbers you probably want to avoid anything too grand and spacious as it will feel very empty. Instead, why not consider a cute country hotel, or quaint rustic barn – both popular choices for today’s bride. What’s more, these sorts of venues also usually have accommodation for the bride, groom and their families on site.
Whether you’ve got 30 guests or 100 guests attending your wedding, the right entertainment can ensure an enjoyable day. With a smaller wedding party, your entertainment shouldn’t be too full on or overpowering – so consider an acoustic guitarist for your evening party rather than a live band and think about hiring a string quartet to play during your drinks reception. Another great entertainment idea is hiring a magician – guaranteed to mix and mingle with all your guests and keep them spellbound
As with all weddings and celebrations a clear timetable for the day will help to ensure that you and your wedding party know exactly what is happening and at what time. Of course, one of the most important parts of your planning will be working out how to get to your wedding venue. With Limo-Scene and Wedding Cars you can be assured that this part of the day will be 100% stress free.
One of our professional chauffeurs will come and pick up the bride and her father in their chosen vehicle – which will also be dressed with ribbons and bows to complement the colour scheme of the day. Another one of our cars can also be hired to get other important members of the wedding party – such as the groom and his best man, or your bridesmaids – to the ceremony too
What’s more, we have both modern wedding cars and vintage cars to choose from – ensuring whatever the style of your day, you have the vehicle to match
