How to plan an unforgettable Hen party

Let’s face it – hen parties are a major part of getting married and a celebration that’s just second to the big-day itself. Allowing the bride to have one final chance to celebrate as a single lady, the hen do is the perfect excuse to party in style. However, for the person responsible for planning, booking and arranging the day’s festivities it isn’t always plain sailing. Planning ahead

No matter what activities you choose, it’s important to give plenty of notice. It’s also essential that you leave some time between the hen do and wedding – planning a wedding is stressful enough as it is! Ideally, the hen do should be four to six weeks before the big-day, but have a chat to the bride to get an idea of her preferences.

Who to invite?

The key is to get the balance right with a good mix of personalities and all the bride’s best friends. It’s likely that the whole group won’t have met before, especially if there are friends or family members travelling from afar. In this case, it might be nice to have a pre-hen meet up, so you can all get to know each other over dinner. If this isn’t a possibility, why not set up a Facebook group where you can all chat?

It’s important to choose events and activities that everyone will take part in and enjoy. If you’re struggling to think of something everyone will enjoy, why not include a range of activities, which the hens can opt in and out of. You might choose to have a tranquil safe spa day, ideal for the older hens, and a wild evening – perfect for the party girls.
