On last week’s blog we had a look at why it’s always better to go direct than use a broker when hiring a limo. We want to make sure you get the best possible deal in terms of service and professionalism for whatever your event entails, so to that end we’ve humbly compiled a list of questions for you to ask before you book a limo. Trust us when we say they’ll give you all the information you’ll need to make a good decision. (Although obviously, that’s us. A good decision would be us.)

There are lots of questions you might want to cover, but just quickly we’re going to give you a heads-up on some of the crucial ones:

Do you own all of your vehicles?
What does the insurance cover?
What if there’s a breakdown on the day?
What safety measures do you take?
What packages do you offer? (In other words – are there any time limits?)

Do you own your own vehicles?

It sounds like a no-brainer, but this is actually one of the most important questions to ask, as it will help you distinguish a direct-hire company (like us) from a broker. Brokers are basically middlemen – they will arrange a car from a third-party company, charge you a brokerage fee and then leave you to it. If you get a substandard service, they’ll rarely care, because they have their money by that stage! Get some peace of mind by going direct, and always choose a company who owns their own cars.

What models do you offer?

What happens if there’s a breakdown on the day?

This is another really important one to nail down right out of the gate with any limo hire company. For some smaller companies who lack the resources (or morals!), the answer might be ‘very little’. It’s good to establish what the backup plan is in the event that the worst happens, so that you can enjoy complete peace of mind on your big day.

What covered by insurance in the event of an accident?

Yet another important one; you don’t want to be left with unexpected liability or costs if the ride for your big day is caught in a sudden fender bender.

How do you ensure the quality and professionalism of your drivers? What kind of training do they go through?

An often overlooked but vital query, lots of people assume that all drivers will have the highest standards of professionalism. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case! Many’s the tale we’ve heard of drivers being rude, late, or even drunk. We don’t hold with that kind of thing at Limo-Scene – all our drivers are qualified trained to our exacting standards, so that we can deliver consistently high-quality service to you, our customers.

What will the driver be wearing?

Though it might sound a little odd – and let’s be honest, a tiny bit personal – upon first hearing it, it’s actually a good question. After all, if you’re being taken from your wedding, or even just hitting a posh night on the town, it rather ruins the classy vibe if your driver turns up in a T-shirt and shorts. We always make sure our drivers are appropriately dressed at Limo-Scene. (We’re not big on shorts, ourselves.)

How do you ensure the safety of me and my guests?

Ah, this one is a good one. When you get the answer, it’s a good idea to listen not only to the words, but also to the tone of what they’re saying to you. Do they sound bored or flustered? That’s not a good sign! This ties in quite closely to the professionalism of the driver, too, so it’s a great follow-up question. Your safety is our highest priority here at Limo-Scene – everything from the smooth function of our vehicles to the attitude and skill of our drivers is geared towards maintaining this safety, so you can have a fantastic time free of worry.

What kind of packages do you offer? Are all charges included in my rate?

It’s never a bad idea to get the nitty-gritty of the financial stuff sorted first; you don’t want any nasty surprises when you’re trying to enjoy yourself! Personally, we don’t charge by the minute – because of our package deals, you won’t find any of our drivers tapping their watches as your balance slowly racks up. There are no time limits, so you’re free to enjoy your day however you please

Are there any personal touches I can request?

Some companies won’t have time for questions like this, but our answer is: of course, if you’d like! Obviously it depends on what you’re asking for, but we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you – provided you give us time to implement it.
