A day at the races

Excitement, spectator style and the thrill of the day, there’s a whole lot to love about the races.

It makes a truly excellent day out and is a great excuse for you and your friends, or work colleagues, to smarten up, get out and enjoy a day to remember.

If you’re looking to attend the next northern races, you’re in luck. On the 8th May, Boodles May Festival takes place at Chester Racecourse.

Not only will the event be buzzing with spectators, the streets of Chester will also be alive – providing the perfect spot to spend your winnings post-event.

Alternatively, later this month, on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd, Bedfred Temple Stakes Weekend takes place at Haydock Park, featuring a Group two race run over a distance of five furlongs on the Saturday.

Travel in style

Of course, with serious style being a huge part of the racing scene it’s key that you turn up in the right vehicle.

Say goodbye to your estate car and hello to one of our super-stylish limos.

Our eight-seater limo, the black Chrysler – otherwise known as the baby Bentley, is a great choice for the races.

It oozes style and sophistication and is the perfect way for you and all your friends to travel in style together.

The car is also fitted with a stargazer, neon lights, CD music system and plush luxury seating.

If you’re travelling with a smaller party we’d highly recommend the Rolls Royce white Phantom.

This modern car oozes classic appeal and star quality. Roomy and indulgent it comes with a built in TV, sat nav, lamb’s wool over mats, cream leather and many more luxurious features.

Looking sharp

Along with your enviable transport, it’s important to dress the part too.

The guys should be suited and booted, but nothing too formal. Chinos and fabrics like tweed work well too.

You can choose to keep your look subtle or add some flair with accessories such as pocket squares and ties or an outlandish colour.

When it comes to the girls it’s all about classic elegance and that hat or fascinator.

With the emergence of some dress trends in recent years, many race courses operate strict rules about dress length so check the race course site for details.

Smart cocktail dresses with colour-match heels are always a great option.

Picking a winning horse

Even if you’re new to the world of betting you can still make some serious winnings on race day by following our top tips:

Make sure you know the basics of betting before you go as this should stand you in good stead.

Keep in mind the race you want to bet on and the type of bet you’re placing, as well as how much you want to bet. Don’t be afraid to stick to your guns – it’s easy to get carried away by the atmosphere.

Finally, always remember to check the ticket before you leave the betting window!
